Tired of the same old boring cookie-cutter AOL profile fields? Create your own! With a little ingenuity (and the help of carriage return and tab characters), you can create your own profile fields!
The first thing you need to do is copy a Tab into the Clipboard. Get a profile (Ctrl+G) and copy a tab from it (shown highlighted in the picture). To copy the tab, highlight it and select Copy from the Edit menu (or press Ctrl+C).
Go to keyword: Profile and click on the 'My Profile' button at the top of the Member Directory window.
Now you are at the profile editing window. It should say 'Edit Your Online Profile' at the top.
Now it's time to start tweaking your profile. Follow the example steps below to learn how the technique works:
Type something in the 'Your Name' field.
Press Ctrl+Bksp (or Alt+0895).
Type a new field name.
Paste in a Tab character (Ctrl+V).
Type an entry for the new field.
When you're done, click on the 'Update' button. A window will pop up that looks like this:
Congratulations! You just added a new field to your profile. Now go back and add whatever you want to your profile (within space constraints). Happy hacking!
